Ever-popular chrysanthemums make their welcome appearance in late summer and autumn as the mood changes in the garden. The bicolour blooms of this compact bedding variety are the perfect shoe-in to replace the faded flowers of summer and this simple display teams the cheery blooms with two types of carex – one bronze and upright, the other cream variegated and hanging. Add in the rich plum foliage of a heuchera and you’re guaranteed colour as the days start to shorten.
